Alcohol in Heaven?

They claimed, saying: The Prophet of Islam informed his followers that there is wine in Paradise, and wine takes away the mind and brings about obscenities and major sins... So how can there be impurities in a pure and clean place like Paradise in the heavens...?!

They based their claim on what came in Sahih Muslim, No. 3736, on the authority of Ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Whoever drinks wine in this world will be deprived of it in the Hereafter."

Responding to the doubt

First: The wine of this world is not like the wine of the Hereafter, contrary to what comes to the minds of the objectors; The wine of the Hereafter does not cause headaches, vomiting, or illness... It does not take away the mind, nor does it defile the body, nor does it exhaust the senses... This is indicated by several proofs, including:

The first proof: His statement, the Most High: “There will circulate among them immortal youths (17) with goblets and pitchers and a cup of pure wine (18) They will not get headaches from it, nor will they get drunk (19)” (Al-Waqi’ah).

1- Tafsir Al-Jalalain: “They will not have headaches from it nor will they lose their minds” with the opening or closing of the zay from the drinker’s bleeding and he will lose his mind, meaning they will not have headaches from it nor will they lose their minds, unlike the wine of this world. End quote. 2- Tafsir Al-Muyassar: Boys who will not grow old or die will circulate among them to serve them, with goblets, pitchers, and a cup from a flowing spring of wine in Paradise, from which their heads will not be afflicted nor will their minds be taken away. 3- Ibn Kathir’s interpretation: And His statement: {They will not have a headache from it nor will they be drained of blood} meaning: Their heads will not be split nor will their minds be drained, rather they will remain stable despite the intense singing and the resulting pleasure.

Ad-Dahhak narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas that he said: There are four characteristics of wine : intoxication, headache, vomiting, and urine. So Allah mentioned the wine of Paradise and cleared it of these characteristics. Mujahid, Ikrimah, Saeed bin Jubayr, Atiyah, Qatadah, and As-Suddi said: {They will not have a headache from it} meaning: They will not have a headache from it. And they said about His statement: {nor will they be drained} meaning: Their minds will not be taken away. The second proof: His statement, the Most High: “There will be passed around among them a cup of pure wine (45) white, delicious to the drinkers (46) Therein is no evil, nor will they be intoxicated from it (47)” (As-Saffat). 1- It was stated in Tafsir Al-Jalalain: “Therein is no evil,” meaning that which will overwhelm their minds. “And they will not be intoxicated from it,” with the opening or closing of the zay, from the intoxication of the drinker and the intoxication: meaning they will be intoxicated with something other than the wine of this world. 1- It was stated in the simplified interpretation: “They will be served in their gatherings with cups of wine from flowing rivers, they will not fear that it will run out, white in color, delicious to drink, and it will not harm the body or the mind.” The third evidence: His statement, the Most High: “They will be given to drink from a pure, sealed wine” (25) (At-Tafayfin). 1- It was stated in the interpretation of Al-Jalalayn:

“They will be given to drink from a pure, sealed wine” on its vessel, “sealed” on its vessel, and no one can break its seal except them. 2- It is stated in the simplified interpretation: What has been prepared for them of good things. You will see on their faces the joy of bliss. They will be given to drink of pure wine, whose vessel is well-made, the end of which is the scent of musk. And in that is the lasting bliss. So let the racers compete. This drink is mixed and tempered from a spring in Paradise known for its height as “Tasnim,” a spring prepared for those brought near to God to drink from and enjoy.

So the above was evidence to demolish their doubt and refute their lie that says: The Prophet of Islam informed his followers that there is wine in Paradise, and wine takes away the mind and brings about obscenities and indecencies... So how can there be impurities in a pure and purified place like Paradise in the heavens....?!

Secondly: If it is said: We accept your statement, O Book, then why is it called wine, why is it not called by another name...?! I said: This naming is to make the meanings easier to understand so that people may know... There is nothing in the pleasures of this world and the pleasures of Paradise except the names only, and as for the content, it is completely different from what is in people’s minds... It was stated in Sahih Al-Bukhari, No. 3005, on the authority of Abu Hurayrah - may Allah be pleased with him - who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Allah said: “I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived. So recite if you wish: {No soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for their eyes}.”

We note: “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man.”

Third:

The wine that the objectors have in mind in the heavenly paradise… is what came in their holy book on the tongue of their Lord Jesus… They drink it in its earthly description with their physical bodies, and enjoy its sensual, spiritual pleasure… It is stated in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 26, Verse 29: “And I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” We note: Jesus will drink (this product of the vine) the same wine , in the kingdom of his Lord in heaven with the believers, both men and women... Then there are other texts that show that the Lord Jesus drank wine; indeed, he drank it... The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners’ (Matthew 11/19). His first miracle was making wine at the wedding..... (John 2: 1-11(! And this is Paul - the Apostle - saying that it is beneficial for the stomach and for many diseases...!! This is in his first letter to Timothy, Chapter 5, Verse 23: "No longer drink water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent diseases."! Therefore, it is permissible on earth in their belief, and it should not be forbidden in heaven according to the texts of their gospels... And texts came on the tongue of Jesus Christ, and we confirm this, the most prominent of which are in two places in the Gospel of Matthew, which are: The first: Chapter 16, Verse 19: And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven. And whatever you loose on “And whatever you bind on earth shall be loosed in heaven. ” Second: Chapter 18 Verse 18 Verse 18 “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

We notice from the above this phrase: “And whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” The meaning is:Anything that is permissible and not forbidden in this world will be permissible in the Paradise of the Lord... The strange thing is that the commentators differed in their interpretation of the two texts. Some of them said what I said (the Protestants), and some of them said something else (the Orthodox)...!
